The SAMPARC ITI & Vocational Training Centre was conceptualized with a vision to empower underprivileged youth by equipping them with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods. Recognizing the deep-rooted social and economic backwardness in rural regions, especially among school dropouts and youth from below-poverty-line families, the Centre focuses on providing skill-based education that leads to employment and self-reliance.
The journey began in 1994, when SAMPARC’s Founder, Shri Amitkumar Banerjee, observed the alarming rate of school dropouts and the lack of vocational opportunities for rural youth in and around the village of Bhaje. In response, a modest 2,400 sq. ft. training facility was set up, offering vocational courses in welding, electrical wiring, and tailoring. This initiative marked the beginning of SAMPARC’s focused intervention in skill development.
Over time, and with growing demand from the community, the Centre expanded its offerings. In 2007, new courses were introduced, including Motor Winding, Computer Applications, and Fashion Design. Each course was designed keeping in mind industry requirements, hands-on training modules, and the employment potential of the students.
Later, in 2010, SAMPARC received Affiliation from DVET (Directorate of Vocational Education Training) in New Delhi for ITI Wireman and ITI Welding Trade and in 2019 for ITI Electrician and ITI Fitter trade.
At present, SAMPARC courses offered include ITI Electrician, ITI Wireman, ITI Fitter, and ITI Welder, certified by the Central Government.
Additionally, the institute offers VTC Electrical Wireman, MS Office, Tailoring and Beautician courses, certified by the State Government of Maharashtra, along with MKCL-certified computer courses in MSCIT, TALLY & DTP.
Every year, more than 700 students complete various courses at SAMPARC ITI & VTC Institute, Malavli, Pune, Maharashtra.
The primary objective of the Centre is to cater to school dropouts from rural and tribal backgrounds, particularly from economically weaker sections. To date, the institute has successfully trained over 4,500 rural youth from more than 45 surrounding villages in the Maval and Mulshi Talukas.
The impact of the training has been remarkable. More than 90% of the trained students are now employed across various industrial clusters in MIDC regions of Pimpri, Chinchwad, Talegaon, Lonavala, Khopoli, Panvel, and Roha. The Centre maintains strong placement linkages with local industries and has formal partnerships with Lonavala and Talegaon industries as well as the Maval Panchayat Samiti for sourcing and supporting trainees from below-poverty-line families.
SAMPARC ITI & VTC is not merely a training centre—it is a transformative platform for rural youth to overcome limitations, build confidence, and step into a world of opportunity. It exemplifies SAMPARC’s core belief that education and skill development are the most powerful tools for sustainable social change.
Mr. Vikas (name changed) is one such example. He belongs to poor family. After completing 12th Commerce and basic MS-CIT course, he could not take up higher education. He wanted to support his family financially but was unable to find a job. Immediately he enrolled in “Account Assistant using Tally” course for six months. He worked very hard and completed the course. Today he is working with Indian Railways and is getting a salary of Rs. 18000/- per month and is able to take care of his family.
